PLASTICS FABRICATOR APPENTICESHIP

The
trade of Plastics Fabricator is new, approved by the State
Government in February 2004
-
It
is a 3 year Apprenticeship.
-
Each
of the 3 stages of training toward the trade qualification
involves approximately 30 days at college. This is usually
offered in one week blocks.
-
If
the prospective apprentice already has some skills in the
industry, the PARTEC Institute will assess these, so that
time at college is reduced.
-
The
stages of training are linked to payscales in the Rubber and
Plastics Award (State).

- Plastic Fabrication Techniques
- Course Cost $150 (Government
subsidised course) Tuesdays 5pm to 8pm Date to be advised.
WA-1
- Welding of ThermoPlastics - Course
Cost $175 (Brisbane)(Government
subsidised course) This course is a good introduction to plastic
welding and covers:
- Identification
of plastic materials
- Freehand
Welding using hot air tools
- Use
speed tips with hot air welding
- Introduction
to Butt & Electrofusion welding
- Introduction
to friction welding techniques
- Extrusion

2009 - 8.30am to 4.30pm
EX-2-
General Welding Course- Course
cost is $175 (Brisbane) and is a one day course. The Course is
for non experienced plastic welders who have not completed WA-1
. or obtained certificate PMB287A Weld Plastic Materials as a
prerequisite for the course EX-1.
EX-1-
Extrusion Welding Course-
Course cost is $350 (Brisbane) and is now a one day course. The
Course is for experienced plastic welders engaged in heavy industrial
plastic fabrication. A certificate PMB287A Weld Plastic Materials
is a prerequisite for this course.
